'One minute against cancer', supporting patients through music

For the second consecutive year, the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC) has celebrated its initiative # 1MinutoContraElCancer, a social movement to help cancer patients. The objective is to unite the voices of Spanish society in the Association's anthem, “Giving the face for you”, and to transfer it to all the people who are diagnosed with cancer through social networks and a massive karaoke that will take place in the Plaza de Callao Act to which four Spanish provinces will be joined live with musical acts.

The day will feature the participation of the AECC choir of cancer patients and different artists who, throughout Spain, will join this social movement to support cancer patients. Also, artists like Sonakay and Leire Martínez, from the Oreja de Van Gogh, will join their voices to record a video clip with the Basque version of the AECC anthem, Rayden and Montoto will offer a small concert at the Plaza de Callao event. will be presented by humorist Carolina Iglesias.

This initiative will try to change the perception that still has of cancer as a basically deadly disease and transform the traditional minute of silence, when there is a death, for a minute of life when you are diagnosed with cancer.

“This social movement is nothing more than the manifestation of the commitment that our society has in the fight against cancer, supporting both sick people and entities that, like ours, are day by day with patients and family members covering all their needs, “said Ignacio Muñoz Pidal, president of the AECC.
